Your adventure begins early in the morning with a 4:00 AM pick-up from Kigali City. You will drive through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” heading toward the Uganda border. After crossing into Uganda, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in time for your gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters. You will be assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek through the dense forest. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. As Kigali is about 160 kilometers away from the park, the journey will take approximately four to five hours, including border crossing and road conditions. The drive through the rolling hills of Rwanda, known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” offers stunning scenery, and as the sun rises, you’ll witness the landscape slowly come to life. The trip may include quick stops for refreshments or to stretch your legs before reaching the Gatuna/Katuna border crossing between Rwanda and Uganda.
