The Serengeti is the size of Northern Ireland. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest unbroken caldera, with the highest density of lions on Earth. Tarangire’s elephant herds run hundreds strong among iconic baobab trees. Lake Manyara has tree-climbing lions and walls of pink flamingos. And the Migration 1.5 million wildebeest and 300,000 zebra moves through Tanzania year-round, only crossing into Kenya’s Mara for the dramatic July–October river crossings.
Beyond the Northern Circuit, Tanzania offers Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest peak), the Selous and Ruaha for a quieter Southern Circuit, and the Zanzibar Archipelago for a perfect safari + beach combination. Stone Town’s Swahili-Arab heritage, working spice plantations, dolphin tours and white-sand beaches at Nungwi and Kendwa make Zanzibar the natural counterpart to a Serengeti week.
