The Safari Experience

A finer way to explore northern Tanzania.

This 6 Day Tanzania Luxury Safari takes you through four of northern Tanzania's most rewarding wildlife landscapes, combining excellent game viewing with carefully selected luxury accommodation. Your journey begins in Arusha and continues to Tarangire National Park , where elephant families move through baobab country and woodland along the Tarangire River. After a day exploring the park, relax at Nimali Tarangire Camp, a secluded luxury camp on the park boundary.

The next day takes you to Lake Manyara National Park , a compact but varied wildlife destination beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Drive through groundwater forest, woodland and lakeshore habitats, watching for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, baboons, blue monkeys, hippos and birdlife. Spend the evening at Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge, with its elevated position above the lake.

From Lake Manyara, cross the Ngorongoro highlands and continue into Serengeti National Park . Two nights at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti give you a comfortable base for exploring the central plains. Your full day in the Serengeti is flexible. You can leave early to search for predators, return to the lodge during the warmer hours, and head out again in the afternoon. Alternatively, carry a picnic lunch and spend most of the day watching wildlife with your private guide.

The final stage of the safari leads back to Ngorongoro Crater . Enjoy a sundowner from Ngorongoro Lion's Paw Camp on the crater rim before descending into the caldera the following morning in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos and the endangered black rhino. The journey ends in Arusha after five nights of luxury accommodation and six days of private safari experiences.

Your Six-Day Journey

Tanzania, day by day.

Six days of wildlife viewing through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, with carefully chosen luxury accommodation along the route.

01

Arusha to Tarangire, Full-Day Game Drive

After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, meet your private safari driver guide and leave at approximately 8:00 am for Tarangire National Park . The journey takes you into northern Tanzania's open countryside before reaching a landscape known for its enormous baobab trees, river valleys and elephant herds.

Once inside the park, begin your game drive along the Tarangire River and surrounding woodland. Your guide will search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes and different antelope species. Lions and leopards also live here, although sightings depend on their movements and conditions on the day.

Tarangire is especially memorable when elephant families move across the riverbanks or gather around water. The massive baobab trees give the park its distinctive appearance, creating beautiful photographic opportunities during your drive.

Stop at a designated picnic area for lunch before continuing your afternoon game drive. Your guide can explore different parts of the park, allowing time to observe wildlife behaviour rather than moving quickly between sightings.

Later, leave the park and continue to Nimali Tarangire Camp, a luxury camp bordering Tarangire National Park. There are no fences separating the camp from the surrounding wilderness, so staff will explain the appropriate safety procedures on arrival. Settle in, relax and enjoy dinner at the camp.

02

Tarangire to Lake Manyara, Full-Day Game Drive

After breakfast, check out of Nimali Tarangire Camp and begin the journey to Lake Manyara National Park . As you travel, the scenery changes towards the Great Rift Valley, with the escarpment rising above the lowland countryside near the lake.

Lake Manyara is smaller than the Serengeti or Tarangire, but its mix of habitats makes it an excellent place for a full day of game viewing. Your guide will take you through groundwater forest, woodland and areas close to the lakeshore.

Watch for elephants, giraffes, impalas, buffaloes, baboons and blue monkeys. The forest can be particularly rewarding for primates, while the open areas provide opportunities to see grazing wildlife. Hippos occupy suitable water habitats, and numerous birds use the lake and surrounding vegetation.

Enjoy lunch during your safari before continuing along the park's wildlife-viewing tracks. An optional cycling experience or boat excursion can be arranged separately, depending on availability, conditions and your preferred programme for the day.

In the late afternoon, leave the park and continue up the escarpment to Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge. The elevated setting offers a beautiful change from the forest and lakeshore below. Check in and enjoy a relaxing evening followed by dinner.

Lake Manyara to Serengeti via the Ngorongoro Highlands

After an early breakfast, leave Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge and begin the journey towards Serengeti National Park . The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and into the highlands, where the scenery changes from Rift Valley countryside to volcanic slopes and expansive highland landscapes.

Stop at a viewpoint on the Ngorongoro Crater rim for your first view into the immense caldera. From here, you can appreciate the scale of the crater floor and the surrounding highland forest. The descent into the crater is scheduled for Day 6.

Continue west towards the Serengeti, where the landscape gradually opens into the famous plains. The road journey takes several hours, so wildlife viewing this afternoon will be planned around your arrival time and the location of your lodge.

Once inside the park, begin a game drive as you continue towards Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti. Look for lions, cheetahs, leopards, spotted hyenas, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and other wildlife along the route.

Arrive at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, located in the Central Serengeti region. Check in and enjoy the lodge's beautiful surroundings before dinner and overnight. You will spend two nights here, giving you a full day in the Serengeti without having to change accommodation.

04

Serengeti, Flexible Full-Day Luxury Wildlife Safari

Today is entirely devoted to wildlife viewing in the Serengeti, with the flexibility to arrange your game drives around your interests and preferred pace. Unlike a day when you must travel between parks, you can concentrate on exploring the Serengeti's different wildlife habitats.

One option is to leave the lodge early for a morning game drive, when temperatures are cooler and predators may be active. Return to Four Seasons Safari Lodge for breakfast and time to relax, then head out again in the afternoon.

Alternatively, carry a picnic lunch and spend most of the day out on safari. This gives your guide more flexibility to explore areas farther from the lodge and remain longer when you encounter interesting wildlife.

The Central Serengeti is particularly rewarding for resident predators. Look for lions around rocky kopjes, leopards in suitable riverine woodland and cheetahs on the open plains. Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and wildebeest are also among the animals you may encounter.

Your guide will discuss the day's options with you and adjust the game-drive programme around conditions and wildlife activity. Return to Four Seasons Safari Lodge in the late afternoon or evening for dinner and your second night in the Serengeti.

Early Serengeti Game Drive and Ngorongoro Crater Sundowner

Wake early for a final game drive in the Serengeti before leaving for Ngorongoro. The cooler morning hours are often especially rewarding for wildlife viewing, with softer light across the plains and opportunities to watch predators and grazing animals.

Follow your guide through selected game-viewing areas, searching for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and other wildlife. Enjoy the last views of the Serengeti landscape before returning to your lodge.

After breakfast, check out of Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti and begin the journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The road gradually climbs from the broad Serengeti plains into the cooler crater highlands.

Continue to Ngorongoro Lion's Paw Camp, located on the crater rim. On arrival, check in and enjoy some time to rest after the journey.

Later in the day, enjoy a sundowner overlooking the Ngorongoro landscape. It is a beautiful way to finish the afternoon before tomorrow's crater safari, with the changing evening light adding to the atmosphere. Return for dinner and overnight at the camp.

Sundowner arrangements should be confirmed with the camp and planned within the applicable conservation-area rules.
06

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive and Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, leave your camp and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for your final major wildlife experience. The descent from the rim takes you approximately 600 metres down into the caldera, where grassland, woodland, marshes and shallow lakes support a remarkable variety of animals.

Your guide will search for lions, Cape buffaloes, elephants, hippos, spotted hyenas, zebras, wildebeest and other wildlife across the crater floor. Ngorongoro is also an important habitat for endangered black rhinoceros, although sightings depend on the animals' movements and visibility.

Enjoy your game drive through different habitats, taking time to watch wildlife and appreciate the surrounding crater walls. The area around the hippo pools can be particularly rewarding for observing animals and birds.

Stop for a picnic lunch near the designated hippo lake picnic area, then enjoy a shorter final game drive before ascending from the crater.

After leaving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, begin the road journey back to Arusha. Allow approximately 3 to 4 hours for the transfer, depending on road conditions and your final drop-off point.

You should reach Arusha at around 5:00 pm, depending on your departure time and the day's progress. Your driver guide will drop you at your confirmed hotel, airport or agreed onward travel point. This marks the end of your six-day Tanzania luxury safari.

Safari Ends in Arusha Breakfast and Lunch
An evening flight or an additional Arusha overnight is preferable to an early afternoon departure.
