After an early breakfast, head into the park for a full day of game viewing. Carry a packed lunch so you can stay in the park throughout the day rather than returning to the lodge. Spend the morning exploring the open plains, looking out for elephants and other wildlife. After lunch, continue with the afternoon game drive, giving you more time to explore different areas of the park at a relaxed pace. On a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro rises above the Amboseli landscape, creating a memorable backdrop as you continue the drive. Return to your lodge in the evening.

After breakfast, leave Amboseli and begin the drive north to Lake Nakuru National Park, passing through the Kenyan countryside and towards the Great Rift Valley. The journey takes around 6–7 hours, depending on the route, road conditions, traffic and stops along the way. Lunch will be taken en route, giving you a chance to stretch your legs before continuing towards Nakuru. Arrive at Lake Nakuru in the afternoon and check into your accommodation. Take some time to settle in and relax after the long drive, or simply enjoy the surroundings of the lodge. Lake Nakuru has a different feel from Amboseli, with the lake surrounded by woodland, grassland and rocky terrain. The main game drive is planned for the following morning, giving you a full day to enjoy the park without rushing after the transfer.

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Explore the areas around the lake and through the surrounding woodland and grasslands as you look for rhinos and other wildlife. After the game drive, return to the lodge, check out and set off to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes about 5 to 5½ hours, depending on road conditions, stops along the way and the location of your camp in the Mara.

Lunch will be taken en route, making the journey comfortable without having to return to the Lake Nakuru lodge after the morning game drive. Continue through the countryside towards the Maasai Mara, arriving in the evening. Check in at your camp and settle in for the night, with the next two days set aside for full-day game viewing in the reserve.

After an early breakfast, head out for a full day of game viewing across the Maasai Mara. With the whole day in the reserve, your guide can follow the movement of the herds and take you to the areas where the action is unfolding. You’ll carry a packed lunch and spend the day out in the bush rather than returning to camp. This gives you more time on the plains, particularly during the Great Migration when the wildebeest and zebra can cover large distances and the herds may be far from camp.

The migrating wildebeest and zebra take centre stage as you follow the herds across the open plains. Your guide will also look out for the resident wildlife that makes the Mara so special, including lions, cheetahs and other predators moving through the grasslands. If the herds are gathered near one of the rivers, you can spend time watching their movement towards the water. When the conditions come together, this is where you may witness the dramatic river crossings that make the Great Migration so memorable. After a full day on safari, return to camp in the evening for dinner.

After breakfast, head back into the Maasai Mara for another full day on safari. With a second day in the reserve, there is more time to cover different areas of the Mara and follow the wildlife activity as your guide finds the best places to spend the day. Watch wildebeest and zebra moving across the plains, while keeping an eye out for lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife that call the Mara home. Your guide will adjust the day's route according to where the animals are and what is happening across the reserve.

A packed lunch keeps you out in the Mara through the middle of the day, giving you more time for game viewing without having to return to your accommodation. For a different view of the Mara, you can start the morning with an optional hot-air balloon safari. Rising above the plains at first light gives you a completely different perspective of the landscape and wildlife before you continue with your safari for the rest of the day.

You can also spend some time with the local Maasai community through an optional Maasai village visit, where you can learn about their way of life, traditions and connection to the land. Return to your accommodation in the evening for your final night in the Maasai Mara.

After breakfast, check out and leave the Maasai Mara for the drive back to Nairobi. The journey takes you through the Kenyan countryside before gradually bringing you back towards the capital. On arrival in Nairobi, your safari comes to an end with drop-off at your hotel or at the airport, depending on your travel plans. If you are catching a flight later that day, the departure from the Mara will be arranged with your flight time in mind, allowing enough time for the journey to Nairobi and the airport transfer. This marks the end of your 7-Day Kenya Great Migration Safari.
